Two citizens spoke during the public comments period at the beginning of the September 12, 2023, Red Lodge City Council meeting and the Council had their discussion at the end regarding the process by which the Whistler Observatory grew from the maximum 15’x15’ building on a 20’x20’ cement pad that was pitched to the city on February 2, 2022 and supported in the Council resolution adopted on April 19, 2022, to the existing 30’x36’ pad with a 16’x24’ building under construction with an additional cantilevered portion extending 16 feet beyond the pad as well as a large metal structure.
