Clarks Fork Valley EMT Succumbs to Injuries from On-Duty Crash Near Fromberg
Service will take place on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.

Today Carbon County Sheriff Josh McQuillan released the following statement:
“On June 23, 2025, Clarks Fork Valley (Bridger) Ambulance member Everett Edwards succumbed to injuries sustained in an on-duty ambulance related crash on June 16, 2025. Everett had been a very active member of emergency services in the Clarks Fork Valley for over 40 years. A service will take place on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fromberg Public School Gymnasium.”
The accident, which occurred on Highway 310 near Fromberg, happened as Edwards was responding to a call for service in the ambulance. Edwards was northbound when a southbound Ford F350 struck the ambulance as Edwards attempted to turn left onto Goldie Road. The roads were wet at the time of the accident, no other contributing factors (drugs, alcohol, speed) are suspected. The driver of the F350 is out of the hospital. No further information on her condition is available at this time.
Edwards will be missed by all who had the privilege to know him. Roger Steffan, Paramedic and Service Director for Clarks Fork Valley Ambulance, provided the following reflections:
“Everett Edwards and I go way back. He was there when I joined Clarks Fork Valley Ambulance thirty-four years ago; he already had six years of experience behind him. Everett was a rock solid and dependable pre-hospital medical provider; you never had to question if he was going to cover his shift. He had a habit of wandering off during a call and then showing up out of nowhere with the cot or other supplies he anticipated you needed. He contributed countless hours responding to 911 calls as well as helping train new EMT recruits. I don’t imagine there are very many emergency responders in this county that haven’t crossed paths with Everett.
“Since the accident, our crew has been able to spend time comforting and grieving with his family, only to have it returned tenfold. They have told each of us that Everett considered us all family as well.
“I had the privilege, along with many others, of providing Everett with pre-hospital care after the crash. While any paramedic could have managed the scene and treated Everett appropriately - I feel in my heart that not one of them could have cared more deeply for him than I. He will be missed.
“Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.”
Being a 25 year veteran in EMS myself, I can't think of a more horrible way to honor a career Emergency Medical Technician then to call him an "ambulance driver." Whoever wrote this owes not only the family, but the EMS community as a whole an apology.
