Traffic Accident on Highway 308 Kills One County Resident and Leaves Another Injured

On Friday, June 21, at 3:16 p.m., a Honda Pilot driven by an 81 year old man from Bearcreek was entering State Highway 308 to head northwest toward Red Lodge. His vehicle was crossing the southbound lane when it was struck by a southbound Ford Escape driven by a 72 year old Belfry man. The Honda Pilot driver sustained life threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the Beartooth Billings Clinic in Red Lodge. The driver of the Ford Escape, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained major injuries and was transported to Billings Clinic in Billings. His condition is unreported at this time. There are no contributing factors (drugs, alcohol, speed) suspected. Montana Highway Patrol is the investigating agency.
This afternoon Carbon County Sheriff Josh McQuillan identified Richard DeVille as the driver who died in the crash.
