Time for Carbon County Veterans to Get a GRIP
Montana National Guard's new program pays $500 to Vets who recruit
On 1 October 2023, a new Montana National Guard enlistment incentive program takes effect. This program, known as the Guard Referral Incentive Program (GRIP), will provide $500 payments to honorably discharged veterans who refer someone to the Montana National Guard. Payments will only be made once a referred individual enlists.
"We recognize that veterans are our best recruiters, being able to speak directly to potential recruits about their time in service. The GRIP program allows us to support conversations like these and demonstrate the importance of veteran referrals to the strength of our National Guard." - Maj Gen Pete Hronek, MT Adjutant General
When asked about the program and if it would track referrals by county, MSgt Michael Touchette stated, “We will be able to track home of record for both recruits and referrers. We would love our first check to go to someone in a rural county, like Carbon County.” And not just the first check. GRIP is fully funded and Touchette said that if the fund were to be depleted by veteran payouts, the Montana National Guard would be fully staffed.
Uncle Sam wants you, honorably discharged veterans, to heed the call to service once again to drain this fund as quickly as possible!
