The Big Toys Come Out to Play
County brings out the big guns to make quick work of drifts and provide residents clear roads
By Denise Rivette

Carbon County road crews are out with the biggest tools in their chest moving snow up and away from roads throughout the county. So how do you know when your road will be cleared? While every snow event is different, you can have a better understanding of when routes will be cleared first by accessing the Road & Bridge Maintenance Priority Map on Carbon County’s newly branded and updated website carbonmt.gov.
The County prioritizes roads as they dig out from big snow events like this. Carbon County roads fall into three categories:
Priority 1 (green on the map) delineates roads that receive regularly scheduled maintenance and snowplowing
Priority 2 (yellow on the map) shows those roads receiving minimal maintenance and minimal snowplowing
Priority 3 (red on the map) shows those roads for which the County provides minimal maintenance and no snowplowing
You can locate the Road & Bridge Maintenance Priority Map on Carbon County’s newly updated website carbonmt.gov. A screenshot of the zoomable map can be seen below.
