Strong to Severe Thunderstorms and Breezy Conditions
50% chance of an inch of snow along the Beartooth Pass

The Billings office of the National Weather Service is predicting a strong low pressure system will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms today with strong to severe storms possible Tuesday. Very breezy conditions are expected along the western foothills (mainly along I-90 to Billings and north). Heavy rainfall is also possible Tuesday and Wednesday.

Main threats will be large hail and strong winds up to 65 mph. Locally heavy rainfall is also possible.
Strong Winds Wednesday
Strongest winds along the western foothills. Gusts over 50 mph are likely for these areas.
Areas of Sweetgrass through western Yellowstone counties (north of I-90) have the best chances of gusts over 40 mph (30-70% chance)
Heavy Rainfall Tuesday and Wednesday
Moderate to high chances of at least an inch of rain exist for south-central Montana with low chances for southeast Montana and north-central Wyoming
High Elevation Snow Tuesday night and Wednesday
With snow levels dropping to around 9,500 ft, there is up to a 50% chance of an inch of snow along the Beartooth Pass
