Storm System Update
This is an update on the storm system moving through our region the next couple of days. The main changes from the previous forecast is that snow totals in the mountains are higher and the chance of at least an inch of rainfall at the lower elevations is higher in some areas, including Billings. This storm has the potential to produce over a foot of snowfall on north facing slopes at the higher elevations of both the Beartooths and the Big Horns. Winter Storm Warnings have been posted for these mountains.

Heavy Mountain Snow
Snow levels will be lowest Thursday morning ranging from around 6,000 feet in the Big Horns to 7,000 feet in the Beartooths
Locally 10-18 inches snowfall, generally on north facing slopes above 7500 ft
Heavy blowing snow may put hunters and outdoor enthusiasts at risk
Locally Heavy Rain at Lower Elevations
Heaviest rainfall Wednesday afternoon through Thursday
Over an inch of rainfall possible in some areas
Areas near Bighorn Mountains could see up to 2 inches of rainfall
Ponding of water on roadways, muddy fields may bog down heavy equipment
Cold, Wet and Windy Conditions
Highs in the 40s and 50s Wednesday through Friday
Gusty northerly winds 15-25 mph creating brisk conditions
