Montana Independent News posed the same four questions to all candidates in the United States Representative race in District 2. Republican Stacy Zinn’s views are presented in their entirety below.
What are the Montana values that will guide your decision-making?
I am a person with principles. I believe in people and doing right by the people of Montana. One has to have a strong backbone to survive in D.C. and I have that backbone. Strength and honor means something and it is time we get back to those basic values.
What skills, knowledge and experience do you possess that make you the better candidate?
This is easy and thanks for asking. First, I have worked around the world with the federal government and dealt with different governments in and out of war zones. My foreign experience is second to none and that knowledge I gained through those experiences will guide me when making the tough decisions on national security, building relationships and determining foreign aid. Second, I know the importance of balancing a budget and working within my means. I have had to do that when running the Montana DEA teams. If we didn't have the money for an operation because DC couldn't balance their own budget and get us the needed money for expenditures, then we had to pass on the operation. This is inexcusable and it is time to get people into office that know the importance of a balanced budget.
What are your top priorities to address during your term if you are elected?
We have to close the border! We have to get our national debt under control. If we do not do these basic things, the rest doesn't matter......
What legislative language would you propose or support to address those priorities?
At this time, there is no identified language. I prefer to wait until after the primary before putting the cart before the horse....respectfully.
