Good morning. Here is an update on the winter system in the area today through Friday morning.
KEY POINTS
Light snow this morning.
Heavier round of snow tonight through Thursday night.
Beartooth, Absaroka and Crazy Mountains will pick up over a foot of snow through Friday morning.

Snowfalls amounts have been raised a bit for most south central Montana locations.
DETAILS
Today:
Areas of snow early today.
Accumulations: Trace to 2 inches (highest north and east of Billings).
Snow tapers off this afternoon.
Tonight through Thursday night:
Heavier bands of snow develop late tonight.
Snow, heavy at times, continues Thursday and Thursday night.
Heaviest snow period will be through the day Thursday.
Accumulations: 3-6 inches over the plains, 4-8 inches in the foothills.
Friday:
Snow lingers early Friday morning.
Accumulations: 1 inch or less (heaviest south of Billings).
Snow Total Forecast & Probabilities Today through Friday Morning.
General Snow Totals: 4-8 inches over the plains, 5-10 inches in the foothills.
Probability of 4 inches or more: Livingston=60%, Red Lodge=95%, Billings=65%, Sheridan=55%, Miles City=5%.
Probability of 6 inches or more: Livingston=35%, Red Lodge=70%, Billings=50%, Sheridan=20%, Miles City=Less Than 5%.
Probability of 8 inches or more: Livingston=15%, Red Lodge=50%, Billings=20%, Sheridan=10%, Miles City=Less Than 5%.
Mountains:
Heaviest snow west and southwest facing slopes.
General Snow Totals through Friday morning:
12-18 inches Beartooth/Absaroka/Crazy Mountains, 6-10 inches Bighorn Mountains.
Confidence & Uncertainty:
Confidence is high on at least 4 inches of snow across most of south central Montana and northern Wyoming.
There will be higher snow amounts in places where heavy snow bands set up.
Uncertainty exists on exactly where the heavy snow bands will develop.
