Scammers using phone calls and County Courthouse letterhead

The Carbon County Sheriff's Office has been notified that there is a scam going on in the county with citizens being contacted by people or through documents claiming to originate from our agency. Victims of this scam are either receiving letters threatening their arrest on our letterhead with our Justice Court Judge's signature on them or receiving phone calls from people claiming to be deputies with our agency (Lt. Ziegler or Mark Webb). Most of these scams are stating money needs to be sent to them via Walmart or other money order or gift cards. No legitimate law enforcement agency or court will accept money in the form of gift cards.
Below is an example of a fraudulent letter received by a citizen and given to the Red Lodge Police Department.
