Red Lodge Homicide Under Investigation

Today Carbon County Sheriff Josh McQuillan on behalf of Red Lodge Police Chief Greg Srock released the following information:

The Red Lodge Police Department with the assistance of the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office and Montana Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation are investigating a homicide that occurred on November 21, 2023, at approximately 9:15 p.m. in the 800 block of Bonner Avenue North in Red Lodge.  One male was pronounced dead at the scene and the investigation is ongoing. There is no threat to the public.

Update November 28, 2023: The man who died in a shooting in Red Lodge on November 21 has been identified as Rehn Peterson III, a 44 year old male. He died at the scene.  The other individual involved in the incident has been identified and is cooperating with law enforcement.

This incident remains under investigation by the Red Lodge Police Department, Carbon County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Montana Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation.
