Rain, Wind and Snow May Impact Activities Later Today Through Wednesday
By Denise Rivette
The Billings office of the National Weather Service expects a dynamic weather system will impact the region later today through Wednesday. There is a high chance of at least one inch of rain over the western mountains and across northern portions of our forecast area, and some areas could see two inches of rain. Heaviest lower elevation rainfall is expected to occur north and northeast of Billings. Outdoor activities will be difficult due to the rain and wind.
In addition, they predict rain will change to wet snow tonight over the high elevations of the Crazy and Beartooth-Absaroka Mountains. A few inches of accumulation is expected above 9500 feet late tonight and Wednesday. Backcountry travel and recreation may be difficult, so prepare for wintry conditions.
