"Quick But Intense Period of Snow" Expected This Afternoon

A quick but intense period of snow is expected to develop this afternoon and diminish late Saturday morning. Heaviest snowfall will be along the north/east facing mountain and foothills locations. 6 to 10 inches is possible for the mountains (above 6000 feet) with 3 to 6 inches in the adjacent foothills. Locally heavier snowfall is possible where more persistent snow bands set up, which may include the Red Lodge vicinity.
