Public Comment Sought on Proposed Safety Improvements on Powder River Road South of Roscoe
Press release from Montana Department of Transportation
The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to announce and invite the public to comment on a proposal to install radar activated curve warning signs, curve signs, and delineators on about 1 mile of Montana Highway 78 (MT 78), south of Roscoe. The project begins at just south of Butcher Creek and extends north.
The purpose of these safety improvements is to enhance driver awareness at these curves.
Construction is tentatively planned for 2026 depending on completion of design and availability of funds. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
Partnering with the community is an important part of properly planning for future projects. MDT welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at mdt.mt.gov/contact/comment-form.aspx or in writing to Montana Department of Transportation, Billings office, PO Box 20437, Billings, MT 59104-0437. Please note that comments are for project UPN 9599000.
The public is encouraged to contact Billings District Preconstruction Engineer Kurtis Schnieber at 406-657-0269 or Project Design Engineer Sabastian Lucio at 406-345-8243 with questions or comments about the project.
