On Tuesday, August 15, at approximately noon a vehicle driven by a female heading north on Highway 78 swerved into the opposing lane then over-corrected multiple times causing the vehicle to enter a broadside skid and exit the road on the west side, overturning multiple times before coming to rest near Country Club Drive. The driver, who was the only occupant, was ejected from the vehicle. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver was taken to Beartooth Billings Clinic before being life flighted to a Billings area hospital. Her current condition is unreported. Speed and inattentiveness are being investigated as possible contributing factors, but no determinations have been made.
Montana Highway Patrol, Carbon County Sheriff, Red Lodge Police Department and Red Lodge Fire Rescue responded to the scene.
