Carbon County DES Holds Evacuation Exercise on April 6
With wildland fire season imminent, the potential for evacuations increases. Law enforcement is responsible for executing evacuations, and in Carbon County, Search and Rescue (SAR) plays a vital role in assisting with notifications. To ensure preparedness, Red Lodge SAR, working alongside Carbon County Disaster and Emergency Services (DES) and the Sheriff's Office, will hold its annual evacuation exercise on Sunday, April 6th, in the Joliet area. This location, which experienced the 2021 Harris Hill fire, encompasses approximately 180 structures, including numerous ranches and farms. The exercise will replicate a realistic evacuation, potentially involving the movement of residents with disabilities, livestock relocation, and direct engagement with homeowners.
