Montana Independent News posed the same four questions to all candidates in the United States Senate race. Democrat Michael Hummert’s views are presented in their entirety below. Hummert was unable to be reached for final review after editing. Any errors in presentation are this publication’s and will be noted and/or corrected upon notification by the candidate.
What are the Montana values that will guide your decision-making?
Honesty and integrity.
What skills, knowledge and experience do you possess that make you the better candidate?
The ability to understand complex problems. The willingness to explain why I committed to a plan and the integrity to say when I am wrong. The maturity to know I don't have all the answers.
What are your top priorities to address during your term if you are elected?
Balanced budget amendment, term limits, age limits, close the border, and change the leadership of the Democrat Party.
What legislative language would you propose or support to address those priorities?
I would start each conversation with “why don’t you support it”. I think history will look back on this time frame and judge it to be as critical as the founding of the country and the civil war. The problem is, which direction will we take our country? BLOATED OVERREACHING GOVERNMENT THAT IS DESTROYING THE FUTURE GENERATIONS’ HOPE, OR MY PROPOSAL OF REINING IN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND RETURNING THE RIGHTS TO THE STATES AND THE PEOPLE.
