I don’t usually provide a link to the mainstream national media for Montana news, but I’ve been trying to pull together a relevant and comprehensive article on the subject of drugs in Montana for many months without hitting the target. I believe this article from NBC news does a good job of presenting the history and an overview of the current situation. If you are not yet familiar with Stacy Zinn, former DEA Resident Agent in Charge for Montana and prospective candidate for U.S. representative for Eastern Montana, this is also a good introduction to her background.
Illegal drug trafficking is a huge legal problem across Montana, even in Carbon County. Local, state and federal agencies are working hard to stem/halt the flow of illegal drugs through our country. Addiction is a huge medical problem across Montana affecting people from all walks of life, even medical professionals. Preventing addiction is the first line of defense but, when that fails, we must treat those afflicted with compassion, empathy and medical assistance. The addict saved today may be the good Samaritan that saves you tomorrow.
