Master Gardening Classes Start Tuesday, Sign Up Now

Join Carbon County and MSU Extension to learn more about gardening in our unique environment and the skills and knowledge needed to be successful here. One recent graduate said, “The master gardener course taught me way more than I originally went in for. Every lesson was engaging and well planned and it truly was the highlight of my week.”
Classes will be held on Tuesdays March 3 through April 23 from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. at the Extension office in Joliet located at 202 State Street. The cost for the series of classes is $150.
The skills taught are:
Understanding plant biology and the growth process
Assessing and improving soil health
Planning, planting, and maintaining vegetable gardens
Fruit production and care
Selecting, planting, and managing trees and shrubs
Lawn care, maintenance, and sustainable alternatives
Identifying and caring for herbaceous perennials
Integrated pest management, including pest identification and environmentally responsible control strategies
