Mary Orler receives Spirit of Montana Award
Governor honors her years devoted to rural healthcare

On the morning of August 11, Governor Greg Gianforte and First Lady Susan Gianforte presented Mary Orler R.N. with the Spirit of Montana Award for her more than 46 years of service in rural health care. The governor’s Spirit of Montana award recognizes Montanans for their accomplishments, dedication, or service. In this case, all three.
The award detailed Mary’s journey from her 1972 graduation from the St. Vincent nursing program in Billings to her employment at Carbon County Memorial Hospital through its current incarnation as Beartooth Billings Clinic. It further mentions the many awards she has been recognized with during her career of caring for patients and the further contributions she has made in mentoring fellow nurses.
The award ends with the words:
“Service is at the core of our Montana values. It's what we do here, and it's part of what makes our state the Last Best Place. On behalf of a grateful state, thank you for dedicating your career to serving others, and leading with resilience, strength, and kindness in all you do.”
