January 22, 2024
A gentleman entered a local shop and began a convoluted and confusing conversation that made the shop owner uncomfortable. The local pastor came to the area, spoke with the gentleman and, after some investigation, found that he had recently come to the area after some mental health issues in another area. Arrangements were made to assist the man.

A fire near the residence of a volunteer fire fighter was reported to dispatch. Belfry Fire responded to the burning of an old shed. The property owner was reportedly monitoring the fire but had not activated a burn permit as required in our county. The fire chief explained the necessity of obtaining burn permits so fire units don’t have to respond unnecessarily to controlled burns.

Concerned family members heard that Carbon County recently had contact with a man in their family that they could not get a hold of for the last few weeks. A deputy confirmed he had contact with the man recently and provided the family his new number.
A concern of weapons being fired at night was called into Dispatch. They were advised that it was just law enforcement officers out at the gun range doing required night qualifications.
January 25, 2024
A young man was walking along the highway heading to a class he was attending when an RLPD sergeant found him and gave the juvenile a ride to his class. It was confirmed with the coach that he was supposed to be there, and the sergeant also spoke with his mother.
January 26, 2024
A driver was taken to the hospital for treatment after he blacked out while driving and crashed into a hill, which totaled his vehicle. Deputies, EMS and Fire responded to help, and they worked the scene until it was turned over to MHP.
RLPD officer initiated a traffic stop, just to discover an involved female had a warrant out for her arrest. She was placed under arrest and taken to YCDF, and the child that was with her was picked up by the other parent.
A man called 911 to report that he and his girlfriend had an argument and now she was distraught and threatening to harm herself. A deputy arrived and made sure everyone was okay. The girlfriend was transported to a hospital for assessment.
January 27, 2024
A woman requested RLPD go check on a barking dog, not because of the noise, but because it had been outside for about an hour in the 44-degree temps and she was worried about it freezing to death. Upon RLPD’s check, it was found the dog was just fine.
RLPD arrested a woman for DUI and her rental vehicle was towed. After processing and being given citations, she was released to a sober driver.
January 28, 2024
A call in the early hours advised that three males were following caller and his friends as they left a local bar. There was a physical alteration, RLPD responded and 3 males received citations and a ride home.
A complaint in Red Lodge of hearing gun shots on and off throughout the afternoon. RLPD investigated and found that the shots are coming from the gun range outside of town.
