By Denise Rivette
Dave Waggoner, the mayor of the City of Laurel, has declared an official State of Emergency for the next 72 hours unless another declaration is issued rescinding it. The declaration requests that all citizens of Laurel remain off the roadways for their safety and the safety of others. The full declaration is below.
This declaration pertains only to the City of Laurel; however, please help emergency responders and road crews and protect yourselves by staying off the roads in the region as much as possible during this weather event. Even after the snow stops falling, the winds may continue to affect travel by blowing residual snow across roadways.
