Hazards to Watch For: Strong Winds, Blowing Snow and Snowmelt Over Frozen Ground

Warmer temperatures will likely lead to significant snowmelt onto frozen ground. If you have interests along waterways and in flood prone areas, be prepared for the potential of rising waters this week.

Increasing wind will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow today through Friday. The prediction is for steady winds in the 20 to 30 mph range. Significant drifting is possible on rural roads along the foothills. Call 511 to check the latest road conditions.

A period of strong southwest to west winds is expected to develop along the western foothills in south central Montana Friday night, and continue into Monday.
