Fire on Mount Maurice
Air tanker and ground crews deployed, please avoid area

From Carbon County Sheriff’s Office social media, “The US Forest Service contacted the Carbon County Sheriff's Office this afternoon and advised that they have a confirmed fire on the South West side of Mount Maurice near the peak. They have an air tanker inbound to the location as well as ground engines and manpower to handle it. Everybody who needs to be involved is taking action at this point. Rest assured the various emergency services in Carbon County are working tirelessly to handle this emergency. Further information will be shared when we have more information. At this point we ask citizens to avoid the area and give responders the room to do their work.”
Red flag conditions will remain through the night. Remain fire aware and avoid creating a spark.
