Fatal Crash Outside of Fromberg Claims Life of Billings Man
By Denise Rivette
Just before 3:00 p.m. yesterday outside of Fromberg on US-310, a vehicle accident took the life of a 67-year-old man from Billings driving a Ford Explorer.
The Explorer and a Ford F350 driven by a 24-year-old man from Powell, Wyoming were both traveling south on Highway 310 on roads that were clear and dry. Both vehicles were hauling trailers. After the curve at mile marker 30.6, the Explorer pulled off onto Foust Lane to make a U-turn. After letting a passenger car go by, the Explorer pulled onto the highway to complete his U-turn. At that time, the F350 was coming around the curve and was unable to stop and impacted the driver side front door of the Explorer. Both trailers and vehicles jackknifed and went into an irrigation ditch.
Carbon County Sheriff’s Office, Montana Highway Patrol, Fromberg Volunteer Fire Department and Clarks Fork Valley Ambulance responded to the scene.
The driver of the Explorer was pronounced dead at the scene. The F350 driver sustained no injuries. There are no suspected contributing causes to this tragic accident.
