Renewable Resource Grants
Irrigation Development Grants
Application Period Now Open!
The Irrigation Development Grant (IDG) Program provides financial support for private entities with irrigation projects that develop or sustain irrigated acres in through projects that conserve, develop, manage, or preserve state renewable resources.
Applications are due on January 6, 2025, by 5pm. Applications must be submitted online at grants.dnrc.mt.gov

Watershed Management Grants Open Now
The Watershed Management Grant (WMG) Program provides financial support for the development and implementation of locally led watershed related planning and capacity building activities that conserve, develop, improve, or preserve state renewable resources.
Applications are due on January 6, 2025, by 5 pm. Applications must be submitted online at grants.dnrc.mt.gov

RRGL Planning Grants Open Now
DNRC Renewable Resource Grants and Loan (RRGL) is accepting applications for RRGL Planning Grants. Grants up to $40,000 are available to any city, county, tribe, state agency, university, or other political subdivision in Montana. For additional information visit the RRGL Planning Grants Page.
Application will remain open through December 2024 with the possibility of extending into 2025.
The RRGL Program funds activities for Preliminary Engineering Reports (PER) and other technical narratives. The purpose of these grants is to offset the cost to a governmental entity to hire a professional/technical consultant to produce or update a preliminary engineering report. The RRGL Planning grant funds can be broken down into the following categories:
Infrastructure PER ($40,000)
Irrigation PER/Technical Narrative ($30,000)
PER or Technical Narrative Update ($20,000)
Resource Services – Plans or Studies ($15,000)
Watershed Restoration Plan ($40,000)
Watershed Restoration Project Plan ($30,000)

Technical Assistance Grants Open Now
Do you need assistance applying for a Renewable Resource Planning Grant? DNRC is offering local governments Technical Assistance to apply for planning grants. Technical Assistance funds are designed to assist local governments that do not have an established relationship with a professional engineering firm, or have not been successful in applying for DNRC planning grants in the prior biennium.
Rolling deadline with applications accepted through December 31, 2024
