February 26
Deputies kept coming across tree branches that were in the middle of roads after the heavy wind storm that occurred overnight.
A deputy took a report from a bank of a counterfeit bill. He then warned local businesses of the issue and to keep an eye out for such bills.
A juvenile stole a road sign and hid it in the back of a car. The reporter gave a description of the suspect and where he lived. RLPD found the juvenile and took the report. The sign was collected and taken to the city shop.
Several requests for traffic control sent Red Lodge Fire out to help after a bus servicing the Stillwater Mine slid and got stuck sideways on a hill. Assistance was given until a tow truck could make it on scene to move the bus.
February 27
A deputy pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation and discovered the male driver to be impaired. He was arrested and the vehicle was towed. The driver was taken in for a blood draw and then taken home and released. Deputies with K9 obtained a search warrant and executed it on the vehicle, thus confiscating the dangerous drugs found inside.
Bridger PD got a complaint of a woman walking her dog coming across three other aggressive dogs. The sergeant found the dogs and stayed in the area, and then spoke to the owner.
Road signs on a back road had been bent to where they were unreadable. MHP took the call and report on the vandalism.
February 28
A sergeant called for a tow after coming across a crashed vehicle that had struck a snow drift and fell off the road. Luckily there was no damage to the vehicle or property.
A woman spoke to a deputy about her options after she explained her situation with a man that she wanted to stop propositioning her. She was told how to obtain a protection order, and the deputy did issue a no trespassing order to the man as well.
RLPD K9 officer initiated a traffic stop on a truck and requested backup shortly after. A nearby deputy assisted while K9 was deployed. The vehicle was towed, and the driver was let go with several citations.
February 29
RLPD officers responded to the Senior Center to check on an individual who was having difficulties.
Deputies were called on to check on a despondent individual who had stopped answering his phone. His family was heading to check on him as well, but had an extremely long drive. Male was found to be okay, and resources were provided.
March 1
Caller complaining that their neighbor was outside screaming lewd comments brought a Deputy to the residence. The suspect refused to answer the door, so charges were filed with the County Attorney.
Deputies assisted with the recovery of a runaway juvenile out of Washington. Juvenile was headed to a family member’s house in Carbon County and the cooperative relative assisted in the ascertaining that the juvenile was okay.
March 2
An apparent scam involving lift tickets to Red Lodge Mountain was uncovered when tickets purchased through Craigslist were found to be fraudulent. There appear to be tickets to other ski areas as well; investigation is on-going.
Caller advised that the camera at their property is showing a vehicle and people on their deck when no one should be there. Deputy arrived on scene to find several people shoveling the patio. The “trespassers” had gone to the wrong address for their rental, and were just hoping to take advantage of the hot tub, not knowing that they were at the wrong house. Home owner was contacted and advised of the error.
March 3
Damage to the door at a local dispensary was damaged where it appeared as though someone had attempted to break in. The attempt was unsuccessful, a report was taken and an investigation is underway.
A report from medical personnel in Cody that a male had driven himself to their hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. The male stated he had been hiking in Carbon County when he heard the report of a gun, then found that he had been shot. Many of the details from the injured party appear to be conflicting, and Deputies and Detective have an on-going investigation.
