January 8
A man was unhappy about the noise that snow plows were creating, stating they were out too early in the morning after this season’s rare snowstorm.
RLPD Sergeant contacted a juvenile’s parent about their teenager’s theft that was caught on camera. Mediation was established between the business and the family.
Deputies responded to a disturbance between a father and adult son after the father became worried he would be injured by his very angry son. The argument was verbal, and the parties were separated.
Well after a young girl’s bed time, she called 911 to request a “search party” come help find her missing book. She was scared her parents would be upset that she called and refused to wake them up to help her look, believing only a search party could find her book. A phone number was found for the mother and she was called regarding the quest on hand.
January 9
RLPD sergeant assisted an MHP Trooper in an attempt to contact a subject who was involved in a vehicle crash the day before when the driver left the scene without reporting.
A woman was kicked out by her roommate and was staying at a local inn trying to figure out what to do next. Despite being given the admin line numerous times and being told by RLPD sergeant that she would be charged with misusing 911 by calling without an emergency, she continued to repeatedly call 911 from her cell phone to ask for Billings business’ phone numbers for her to call.
January 10
In the very early hours of the morning, a deputy, with assistance from RLPD officer and a trooper, responded to a call of alleged Partner/Family Member Assault (PFMA) and attempted suicide. Joliet EMS was put on standby. Upon law enforcement’s arrival, it was discovered that involved couple had fled. The deputy searched the area and some time later found them near a business. They fled on foot. The deputy caught the female, but the male got away. She was very uncooperative and the male never came back. It was deemed to be false reporting, and she was advised to call back if they do end up needing help.
A female worker asked for a frequent male customer to be trespassed from her workplace after he was making lewd threats inside the business.
Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle that had been parked for an extended period of time with the driver slumped over the wheel. The male driver was arrested for DUI, Stillwater County’s Drug Recognition Expert came at request, and the vehicle was towed to impound. Several types of dangerous drugs were seized upon search warrant execution. The male was taken to the hospital for a consensual blood draw, was cited, and given a ride home.
January 11
Deputy looked into a theft of service regarding someone attempting to turn their water on after it was shut off by the city due to non-payment.
An attempt to locate was issued for an adult male who was on his way to visit his mother in Billings but didn’t arrive in time. It was cancelled within an hour after it was confirmed he was safe and with her.
A gas smell at an AirBnB in Red Lodge was reported, and Red Lodge Fire crews were able to find the source. They turned off the gas oven, and the house was turned over to the utility company.
January 12
RLPD officer did a crash report for a vehicle that clipped a parked vehicle. It was requested that the city put down some more sand on the roads.
A deputy investigated allegations of neglect to a herd of horses. However, it was found that the owners do feed the animals and they have unlimited water.
January 13
An elderly woman called 911 to report that her water was shut off. It was relayed to her that her pipes were frozen, but she refused to believe this to be the case and continued to call throughout the day.
A deputy with help from RLPD responded to a vacation rental, where a disturbance was called in. The drunk suspect and his girlfriend were removed from the premises and given a ride to an inn for the night.
January 14
Caller reported a large amount of black smoke. Deputy and Fromberg Fire were dispatched to the area where there was reportedly a good-sized fire. Responding units discovered that it was a controlled burn that was not activated. The property owners were advised of the necessity of activation.
Several fire alarms were reported to dispatch from the company monitoring The Willows. Deputy and RL Fire responded to scene and did not find fire, but did advise that there was a large amount of flooding in the building. The water to the building was shut off and the manager of the facility arrived on scene, and took over, thereby releasing the fire department.
