There has been an influx of scams and fraud calls recently. Some of them may seem routine, others easy to spot. Citizens are urged to be vigilant in protecting their personal information and accounts. Be mindful and cautious, always verifying the caller’s authenticity before giving any kind of personal details away.
October 30
Deputies assisted Billings PD in locating a distraught male subject who was last reported to be near the Bridger Rest Area. He was there and contact was made. He was given a ride to a relative’s house.
A deputy helped identify a male who was trespassing on a woman’s property using footage captured on a game camera. The man was asked why he was there and he explained that he was looking for his dogs. The woman decided not to press charges.
A caller had mostly got a fire out after a chicken coop and surrounding area burned. Fromberg Fire assisted and made sure the smoldering coop wouldn’t reignite.
October 31
Sheriff, Joliet Fire and EMS responded to a truck that had crashed near the intersection of Highway 421 and 212. Driver was checked out and released, the crash was turned over to MHP.
Bridger Officer responded to a call of a fire with an unknown location. BPD Officer arrived to the scene and requested Bridger Fire respond. Fire was not listed as a controlled burn. The fire appeared to originate from a pile in a pit from a previous burn. Bridger Fire was able to contain the fire and monitored it overnight.
November 2
A deputy and RLPD Officer responded to a Text-to-911 about a juvenile being “doxed” in Russia. Reporter stated their friend from Canada reached out to them saying a mutual friend in Russia was being “doxed” and the friends location had been given out. Deputy spoke with juvenile about the importance of local 911 systems and advised that Russia will handle its own emergencies.
Red Lodge Fire Rescue responded to a grass fire that started above the high school after celebratory fireworks started the hill on fire. RLFR was able to contain and extinguish the fire.
November 3
RLPD Sergeant responded to a report of an individual who had wandered out of an assisted living residence and was wearing inappropriate clothing for the weather. RLPD Sergeant transported the individual back to the assisted living residence.
A caller reported that she was hearing gun shots and seeing spotlights around her area in Belfry. Information was passed onto local Fish and Game Warden.
