April 14
Dispatch received a report of a tree on fire within Red Lodge. There were no known burn permits matching the location given. Red Lodge Fire responded and was able to extinguish the burning tree. A RLPD sergeant responded as well and verbally warned the subject for burning without a permit.
A property owner in the area of Fromberg requested contact from a deputy to have several persons issued trespass warnings. A deputy advised the involved subject of the trespass order. The situation evolved into a civil dispute regarding other items and personal property at which point deputies contacted both parties and helped arrange for the items to be transferred accordingly. The deputy then notified several other involved persons of their trespass from the premises as well.
April 15
Dispatch received a call regarding two subjects involved in a verbal altercation. RLPD responded and checked the area but did not locate the subjects described.
A concerned family member requested a welfare check on a family member who had not been heard from in several days. A deputy responded to the location, contacted the subject in question, and confirmed they were safe and well. Dispatch called and updated the reporting family member.
April 16
During the early morning, dispatch received a call regarding a multi-person disturbance, involving both physical and verbal fighting. A RLPD sergeant was called out and located the involved parties. The suspect was arrested for local charges and an out-of-town warrant. A deputy assisted in transporting the arrestee to jail.
Red Lodge Fire was dispatched to brush fire spots along Highway 212. Several units responded and extinguished the fires before they could spread further.
April 17
A fierce spring storm brought several inches to over a foot of wet snow in various areas of Carbon County, with near whiteout conditions at several points due to strong winds. DOT had plows out through the night and kept the main highways cleared ahead of the morning and afternoon commute. Only one slide off and one crash were reported throughout the day.
A RLPD sergeant responded to a residential facility to help calm down a resident. A second request for assistance was made, regarding the same resident, and another RLPD officer safely assisted staff with the situation.
April 18
A 911 call was placed after a vehicle rolled and the female driver appeared injured. Deputies and Joliet EMS/Fire arrived on scene. The driver exited the vehicle, complaining of multiple areas of soreness. She did refuse to be transported to a hospital by the ambulance. Her vehicle was towed and MHP investigated the crash.
RLPD arrested a male and executed a search warrant on him. A deputy transported him to YCDF on charges of obstructing, resisting, tampering with evidence, and drug paraphernalia.
A deputy responded to the address of an estranged couple going through a divorce, yet still living together. The male party called to complain that the female was vandalizing his things. The deputy found no damage, only that she would cover his security cameras and had placed a coat over their Starlink dish in order to stop the camera’s feed. The male was advised that until they are divorced, the items at the address are considered to be both of theirs and that the female can stop being recorded if she wishes. They were advised that they would need to speak to their lawyers about this civil matter.
April 19
A Texas male left the mountain after skiing and was pulled over by a RLPD sergeant. He was found to be intoxicated. He refused to provide a breath sample, so he was taken to the hospital for a warranted blood draw. His vehicle was towed, he was cited for aggravated DUI, and a friend from Billings had to come pick hm up.
April 20
A report was made to dispatch regarding possible drugs hung in a bag from the door handle of a male’s storage unit on Boyd Cooney Dam Road. A Carbon County deputy responded to the storage units and was given permission by the male to enter the unit to collect the reported items. The items in the bag were taken as evidence and the investigation is ongoing.
