May 27
A man called 911 on his girlfriend, claiming she was trashing his car after he refused to take her to Columbus in the middle of the night. A deputy arrived to find the fight was only verbal, and gave the girlfriend a ride to Columbus.
May 28
A renter went to a landlord’s house with a shotgun to speak with them before leaving. This concerned the landlords, so they called 911 for help. RLPD arrived and spoke with the renter, who taken to Billings Clinic for an evaluation. The guns were seized and given to a friend for safe-keeping.
A man received information from a deputy on how to obtain a protection order against his soon-to-be ex son-in-law who was living on the man’s property and was no longer wanted around.
May 30
A resident complained of her neighbor’s making her place look like a junk yard, and asked for the county to tow away all of the vehicles. Deputy is investigating.
May 31
Male was arrested and processed for DUI by a RLPD sergeant. His vehicle was towed and he was given a ride home after receiving citations.
A caller stated they heard what sounded like a girl screaming for help on the north end of Cooney. FWP warden and deputies searched the area with no luck and spoke to others in the area who stated they heard nothing.
June 1
A deputy attempted to pull a vehicle over for a traffic infraction, but ended up pursuing it for several miles at normal speeds until it finally pulled over. The driver was from Brazil and said he didn’t know he was supposed to pull over for law enforcement.
A tree had a spark land on it, which caused it to catch fire. It was unfortunately already leaned against other trees, causing them to ignite as well. Red Lodge Fire responded and spent a couple hours dousing the fire and making sure it was completely out.
A couple called 911 to report a female was at their fishing site and causing problems by cursing at them for their race and trying to block them into their parking spot as they were trying to leave to go home. Deputies arrived and she became even more aggressive and combative. She assaulted one of the deputies. She was arrested and taken to YCDF on charges of disorderly conduct, assault on an officer, assault with bodily fluid, obstructing, and resisting arrest.
June 2
A toddler was found wandering along Broadway with no adults around him. A RLPD officer walked with him to try to find his house, but couldn’t. Officers eventually identified the mother and picked up her child per CPS’s approval. A citation was issued to the father and the situation was passed onto CPS.
A sergeant arrested a male for DUI and took him to Laurel for processing. He was issued citations and given a ride home in Billings.
A bear was trying to get into a caller’s camper before it gave up and left. An FWP warden came on shift and located the bear for removal.
