June 3
The Beartooth Pass, which had finally just opened on June 1st, closed again today for several days after a snow storm hit the top. Several vehicles got stuck and mostly buried in the white out conditions. Deputies responded to do traffic control while the highway was being shut down. Wyoming was also notified to assist in clearing since the blockage was just across state lines.
June 4
A man was pulled over by RLPD and processed for DUI. He was cited and given a ride home.
An entry into the database was made after an iPhone was reported stolen. A mother who had given her son the phone around Christmastime didn’t get it back from her son before he left for basic training, and the father and step mother are claiming they don’t know where it is.
June 5
A RLPD sergeant found an elderly woman safe after a worker grew concerned that she wasn’t eating her provided meals. The sergeant is reaching out to find aid to help clean up around her residence.
Vandalism displaying an offer for drugs along with a phone number to call was found in a building in Joliet. A deputy tracked down the juvenile culprits and citations were issued after they admitted it was them.
June 6
Travelers who got stuck past a washed-out section of road had to find another way out and leave the vehicle behind since a tow truck could not reach it. Later, Glacier Road above Greenough Lake Campground was closed due to the wash outs.
An automated text-to-911 reported a crash that could have resulted in injury. Bridger EMS and Fire responded and requested assist from Frannie, WY. A deputy searched the area that the 911 gave coordinates for, but found no crashes from there to the state line.
June 7
A deputy pulled over a side by side and found the driver to be intoxicated. He was arrested and taken to the sheriff’s office for processing. The vehicle was towed and the driver was given a ride home after receiving citations.
A woman flagged down an RLPD officer to report that her vehicle must have been stolen an hour prior since she couldn’t find it. A report was taken, the vehicle was entered as stolen into the national database, and the woman was provided a ride to Laurel by a deputy. A few hours later during patrol, the officer found the vehicle one block over from where the woman said she had parked it. It was untampered with, the stolen entry was removed, and the woman was contacted to advise her of where her vehicle was located.
June 8
A Bridger Officer found some kids about to go tubing in a sewer pond and was luckily able to chase them away from the bad idea before they managed to get in.
An officer initiated a traffic stop and arrested the driver for driving intoxicated. A sergeant came out to process the DUI and found the young man to be over the legal limit, issued him citations, and gave him a ride home afterwards since his vehicle was towed.
Several young adults partying near Cooney got caught up in a fight, where a couple of the aggressors reportedly tried leaving before deputies, MHP, and a game warden arrived. The suspects were found shortly after and the situation is still under investigation.
June 9
A deputy investigated a storage unit that appeared to have been broken into as well as having signs of damage.
A man who did not speak much English was on vacation, but was spending his time hanging outside of an apartment complex and asking women if they were single. This creeped the women out and they called to have RLPD speak to the man to ask him to leave.
