Parents were upset that their daughter decided to not return home with them and move in with her boyfriend instead. A deputy responded to interview the couple and each of their parents. It was determined that the daughter is an adult and allowed to make her own decisions. Her parents were not happy with this and decided to try to ask for a second opinion from an agency outside of the proper jurisdiction. They were sent back and then settled upon getting a no-trespass order against their daughter’s boyfriend, claiming they are afraid of him.
March 26
In the early morning, a call came in requesting law enforcement check on an intoxicated male friend who got kicked out of his ride home after he tried to pull a fast one. The male laid down in the middle of the road after his ride ditched him. A deputy arrived and requested EMS to come check out the knot found on his head. Several different agencies were paged before an ambulance accepted response and transported the male to a hospital for treatment.
A home owner who had previously had a man trespassed from his residence had since let the man come back. Tonight, however, the home owner asked for law enforcement’s help in removing the intoxicated man since he was once again no longer welcome. Before deputies and RLPD left, the home owner changed his mind and wanted the man to stay. Law enforcement cleared the scene. A short time later, law enforcement was called back to the scene after the man assaulted the home owner. Law enforcement also requested EMS for a possible overdose and administered Narcan on the man, who then regained consciousness. He was taken to a hospital and, when released hours later, was taken to YCDF (Yellowstone County Detention Facility) on charges of PFMA (Partner or Family Member Assault).
March 27
RLPD sergeant, with assistance from a deputy, responded to a caller claiming his girlfriend had self-harmed. Law enforcement units interviewed all parties involved, it was discovered the intoxicated girlfriend had no injuries to herself and instead had assaulted her boyfriend. She was arrested and taken to YCDF on PFMA charges.
A serious vehicle crash on the highway summoned Law Enforcement, EMS, and Fire after the driver fell asleep at the wheel. The driver thankfully seemed okay after EMS checked him out. The vehicle was towed and the crash was turned over to MHP.
A caller reported that a man was going through trash cans and thought it was suspicious. RLPD sergeant searched for and found the described vehicle and male that had left the scene. He was found to be driving around highly intoxicated. He was arrested and processed.
March 28
RLPD responded to the hospital for an active assault on multiple hospital personnel by an extremely combative woman who was under the influence of substances. She was detained and controlled by several restraints as to not injure anyone else while the situation was being investigated. She was transported to a different hospital for further care and issued citations.
Three puppies were found and turned in to the Beartooth Humane Alliance to be looked after.
RLPD initiated a traffic stop, and the two underage males inside admitted to using marijuana based off the smell coming from the vehicle. They gave consent for their vehicle to be searched and were detained after finding dangerous drugs inside. One of the males was taken to YCDF on possession charges and the other was taken to his hotel. The vehicle was seized and towed to the police department to be search once a warrant was obtained.
March 29
Deputies and dispatch worked overnight on a runaway missing juvenile case that involved a local girl and a few of her out-of-county friends. One of the friend’s phones was pinged and when they began moving in the morning, the search was narrowed down. Stillwater County was requested to look out for the likely vehicle being driven and was able to locate it with the juveniles inside. Everyone was safe. The girl was held for her parents to come pick her up and the rest were released to return home.
March 30
An elderly man called dispatch to inquire about an old stagecoach trail that goes between Red Lodge and Cody and use to take 30 minutes to travel. He was told that dispatch does not have this information. He argued that the trail should still exist as long as the mountain it wrapped around is still there.
