September 9
A local crashed into a parked trailer in Red Lodge. RLPD responded to write up the crash report and found the driver to be intoxicated. The vehicle was towed and the officer dealt with the DUI crash accordingly before giving the driver a ride home.
A deputy was able to confirm the well-being of campers. The family member wanted the mother and step-father entered as missing persons, but contact was made before that became necessary.
It was reported that a vehicle had hit a power pole and the vehicle was able to be identified based on parts and pieces left behind. A tow company had moved the vehicle earlier, and the owner was attempting to pick the vehicle up. MHP took over the crash prior to releasing the vehicle.
September 10
A man seemingly under the influence was reported to be attempting to get into a vehicle. Bridger Chief just arriving on scene found the man had just fallen down in a seizure and then became unconscious. A deputy showed up a few minutes later and was able to Narcan the man out of his apparent overdose. An ambulance took the man to a hospital for further treatment.
September 11
A tent had been abandoned for nearly two weeks. The camp host checked the tent and found a handgun inside and reported it. The deputy attempted to call the registered owner of the gun with no luck, so the gun was taken in for safekeeping.
September 13
Park County in Wyoming requested Carbon County Search and Rescue help a stranded motorist up on Beartooth Pass. The travelers were stuck in a snow drift. A deputy was able to help push them out so they could continue on their way. Search and Rescue was cancelled and Wyoming was updated.
September 14
A man was in his vehicle when a train hit him, causing him to be ejected and the vehicle landing upside down. The male driver inside was alive and complaining of back, neck, and shoulder pain. Help Flight was launched for this accident and took the man to a hospital for treatment. The vehicle was towed and a deputy and MHP finished the crash investigation.
A local female caused a crash between herself and a male driver. Airbags were deployed and fluids were leaking. The female’s vehicle had heavy front-end damage and needed to be towed. Neither driver was injured. The female was given citations for careless driving and not having insurance.
Lightning struck and caused a slower-moving fire at the end of Cole Creek Road. It burned almost 50 acres, and was put out with help from Joliet, Edgar, Roberts, Laurel, Bridger, and Red Lodge Fire Departments.
A man shot Tannerite and it started a fire, later named the Silvertip Fire. It was believed that there were trapped people, but it turned out that they were okay and were escorted to a safer spot. Belfry, Red Lodge, Bridger and Fromberg Fire crews as well as BLM crews, the county road department, and air support from Billings, all assisted in extinguishing the fire.
After some searching the source of smoke, a location of a fire on BLM land in Bighorn County was provided to responding units. Edgar Fire assisted BLM in putting out the wildland fire.
September 15
A welfare check was done by an RLPD officer on a male who has been living out of a park’s shed for the last few years.
