June 9
A woman struck a deer and the impact deployed her airbags. She called 911 and during the call her vehicle caught fire. Bridger EMS checked out the female’s bloodied nose and released her without transport. Bridger Fire, with mutual aid from Frannie Fire, dealt with the fire. MHP took charge of the crash report.
Deputies stopped to assist a female driver in her vehicle that was pulled off of a highway. She was found to be heavily intoxicated. Driver was charged with aggravated DUI.
Bridger Fire responded to report of a field fire caused by snapped electrical wires. The fire was extinguished and the local power company responded to handle the wires.
A male was throwing rocks at a hotel window attempting to gain the attention of the female he knew inside. An officer and sergeant of RLPD investigated. No damages occurred and the involved parties retired quietly for the rest of the night.
June 10
Deputies responded to assist MHP with a crash south of Red Lodge. No injuries were reported despite the vehicle ending up in a creek. The driver was arrested by MHP for DUI.
A woman from out of state asked for a possible welfare check on her family who was traveling over the Beartooth Pass, headed to visit Yellowstone National Park. The woman was puzzled that there is a complete lack of cell service in the mountains and that there are only limited ways to contact persons who are traveling in these rural areas. The woman was also advised that travel times over the Beartooth Pass can vary as well.
A deputy assisted in traffic control for a civilian who was having vehicle troubles off Highway 78. A tow company responded to help limp the vehicle into town.
June 11
A RLPD officer stopped a vehicle for suspicion of DUI. Upon investigation the subject was found to be heavily intoxicated, was arrested for DUI and given a ride home while the vehicle was towed.
A mother called to report her son possibly missing while out of area on a gold panning trip. A deputy contacted the mother and requested dispatch issue an alert to other law enforcement agencies to keep an eye out for the involved individuals. They were located by a partner agency in Wyoming, safe and sound, but had been out of service area on their trip and unable to respond to contact attempts from the mother.
A RLPD officer moved along persons who were blocking traffic because of a moose in the area. Dispatch wants to remind the public that you cannot block a main roadway in order to sightsee or look at wildlife. Please find a safe location to pull over that is completely out of the way of traffic and maintain a safe distance from wild animals.
June 12
Red Lodge Fire investigated report of a gas odor. No injuries or illnesses were reported and the scene was turned over to the local gas company.
The sheriff provided a courtesy ride home for an intoxicated male in Fromberg.
June 13
A man reported his bicycle stolen after leaving it at the bar the night before for fear of getting a BWI (biking while intoxicated). A short time later, he cancelled his stolen property report with the RLPD after locating his bike himself.
A deputy pulled over a 20-year-old male for speeding and driving in the passing lane. He was found to to have a BAC nearly twice the legal limit for a DUI. He was arrested for aggravated DUI and given a courtesy ride home.
June 14
A long-time couple who shared a child together got into a argument about their relationship at a Cooney campground. This argument was loud and nonstop for several hours in the night, leading to deputy response. The fight was found to be verbal only and no crime had been committed. They were told to conduct themselves appropriately while in public areas, and not disturb people’s peace in the future.
Help Flight and Search and Rescue were launched for a man who experienced a dirt bike accident and severely injured his ribs. Bridger EMS was able to make contact with the patient first and cancelled response from the other responders. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.
A male was transported for a mental evaluation after he hit a worker and two other patients in the facility he lives at, as well as made other threats against them. No one was injured and they didn’t wish to press charges.
June 15
Red Lodge EMS transported an intoxicated male to the hospital after he got in an e-bike accident and injured his face.
