February 10
A Roberts resident called in to report a “pack of dogs” had been chasing deer in the area. The pack is locally known to chase deer and believed to be killing the wildlife, although they had never seen the dogs catch or harm a deer. A deputy took a report and issue was reported to a FWP Officer.
Bridger Police chief, MHP & Motor Carrier Services responded to a semi slide-off at Yellowstone Bean. The driver had just delivered his load and slid into the ditch thus blocking both lanes of travel. No damage/injuries were reported, however travel to and from the Plant was hindered for a few hours until Hansers Towing arrived to pull the semi out.
A cat owner called to report they believed someone was holding his cat hostage or was being scammed. The cat went missing late in 2024, and the owner started receiving texts from an unknown number that they would return their cat if they agreed to send money. A deputy determined this is a scam call and encouraged the owner to block the number and do not send any money.
Fire Departments from Roberts, Joliet and Red Lodge responded to a fully engulfed barn fire in Roberts. Units were able to get the fire under control, however, due to subzero temperatures and concerns for collapse, the remains were left to smolder overnight. No other structures were involved and there were no reported injuries.
February 11
The undersheriff assisted a motorist whose vehicle gelled up in the early morning hours on their way to Billings. The driver was warm and safe and had a ride coming to pick them up.
RLPD sergeant addressed a number of parking issues on Haggin Avenue. The sergeant spoke with owners and advised parking issues needed to be corrected and or vehicles moved or they would be cited in accordance with city parking ordinances.
A resident of Bearcreek reported theft of rent check. The check was mailed to landlord in Billings, but was reportedly stolen out of landlord’s mailbox. A report of theft was taken by CCSO.
Laurel Police requested the assistance from Joliet EMS and CCSO for a 911 hang up for an elderly resident. CCSO arrived on scene to check the welfare of the resident who was transported by Joliet EMS.
February 12
A resident in Joliet reported a suspicious vehicle in front of their home. Vehicle was located and Deputy was advised by the driver they are an Uber and got their directions mixed up.
RLPD investigated the welfare of a vehicle owner whose vehicle had been parked illegally on Broadway for over a week. Officer made numerous attempts to reach owner to avoid having the vehicle towed. Vehicle was about to be towed when owner showed up.
Red Lodge EMS responded to assist a person that had slipped and fell on the ice. Patient was evaluated and transported.
February 13
Bridger PD responded to a report of a disabled semi-tractor trailer on the highway that was initially reported as a crash. Officer provided lights to driver whose air brakes had locked up on him.
Dispatch received numerous reports of impassible roads across the county due to heavy drifting from high winds across the area. County Road Crews were working on the problem areas but were having difficulty keeping up due to the winds.
February 14
RLPD sergeant issued citations for a male driver after he was processed for DUI.
A plane was reported to be flying too low around the Bearcreek Hill and BLM areas. A deputy made contact with the pilot who explained that he was employed to spread sagebrush seed on BLM land. He will be doing so going into next week.
A vehicle rolled after the driver attempted to miss striking a deer. The driver was okay, but still checked out by Joliet EMS. A deputy and MHP trooper helped before a tow truck took the vehicle away.
February 15
RLPD sergeant arrested a male for PFMA and an officer transported him to YCDF.
A deputy, with assistance from RLPD sergeant and MHP, arrested a female after she had tried lighting something on fire in order to harm another. She was taken to YCDF.
February 16
A couple people in a new pickup struck a power pole at 4:00 a.m. They stayed until a deputy and trooper assessed the scene and damage while the utility company was en route.
RLPD sergeant made contact with a male that was reported to have been walking around in the frigid cold for hours. He declined any help and refused a ride to where he was living.
