April 15
There were no burn permits listed for a location were a small fire was spotted burning. The reporting party was concerned as no one was around and it was windy outside. Bridger Fire contained the fire and then spoke to the property owner about the incident.
April 16
An RLPD officer gave a woman a ride to a hotel after he found her just a little too intoxicated and sitting in a business parking lot at almost 3 a.m.
A registered offender had been living is his vehicle. His probation officer was contacted to help the deputy handle it and arrived on scene shortly after. The vehicle was out of fuel, which was corrected on the spot so he could move locations. The man was told to follow up with his probation officer to provide his new address in another city.
A man performing a lewd act in an open establishment resulted in several Carbon County Sheriff’s Office personnel taking a report from witnesses. They then made contact with the suspect at his apartment and interviewed him. He was issued citations for the occurrence.
April 17
A man who was out of state called in trying to gain information that he was not entitled to. He then became upset and remained upset when he discovered that he was only speaking to a dispatcher and a deputy, rather than a sergeant or captain. He declared that he was accustomed to speaking with people higher up the command chain. He continued to relay his disdain for only being able to speak to regular employees until he finally got his wish. A sergeant called him back to speak to him for just a few minutes before returning to important matters.
A deputy spoke with a dog owner about a neighbor’s complaint of constant barking during the day. They were advised there is not county noise ordinance but the owner agreed to try to keep the dogs quieter.
April 18
A Publisher Clearing House scam was reported after a number continued to call the reporting party asking for hundreds to be put on a card.
April 19
Out-of-staters who were moving to the area had just arrived into town in the evening and were immediately pulled over for a traffic infraction by a RLPD sergeant and officer. During the traffic stop, drugs were discovered in sight and the driver refused to give his correct ID, providing an alias of Jeremiah Johnson instead. He was arrested and booked into YCDF. RLPD and Dispatch worked for most of the night calling out-of-state agencies and chasing leads to uncover the arrestee’s true identity. Once this was done, he was issued almost a dozen citations and also served a detainer on a full extradition warrant from his home state. His vehicle was also seized and a search warrant was executed on it the following day.
April 20
A deputy took a report of a person who was bit by a dog.
Deputies assisted multiple fire agencies with traffic control for a structure fire.
April 21
A deputy responded to the scene of a hit and run crash where a driver took out mail boxes and a pipeline warning sign. The incident was turned over to the Montana Highway Patrol due to it being traffic related.
