March 11
Caller requested a welfare check on a parent at an assisted living facility. The caller had no contact for approximately a week and reported that as strange. Deputy went to the facility and found the parent to be fine. The number to the facility was provided to the caller, so they could check directly in the future.
A concerned caller called 911 when the friend with whom she was speaking, suddenly disconnected the call, saying “I am having an episode”. Unknown medical history prompted an emergent response from law enforcement who found that the “episode” was one of blurry vision.
A truancy issue was reported to the Sheriff. Deputy responded to the home of the children who had excessive absences from school and spoke to their guardian. The issue was reported to the appropriate agency, and the children were taken to school later that same day.

A report of a naked male sitting outside in view of children on the school bus proved to simply be someone sitting outside without a shirt on, and enjoying the morning sun and a cup of joe.
A 911 call was made when a guest at a local motel found that their key card was not working on their motel room door, and there was no one at the front desk. RLPD Officer responded, and the caller advised that they had called the manager who was coming to assist. It was explained by the officer that an issue such as theirs absolutely did not warrant a call to 911.
March 13
A multitude of vehicles sliding off the road arrived with the winter snow fall and kept Dispatch, Officers, Deputies, Sergeants and Tow companies hopping. Ski Run Road appeared to have been the most treacherous to drivers speeding up for a powder day.
A visitor at a local rental property requested a welfare check on her beau who had left the home on foot in the evening after consuming alcoholic beverages since morning. There was concern that he may have fallen in the snow and need assistance. The male was located at a local bar and only needed assistance in being driven to a motel after the original caller refused to admit him to their rental in his inebriated state.
March 14
Bridger PD Chief asked for fire crews to help deal with a combative man needing help after a neighbor called in a welfare check. He eventually accepted help and a ride to a hospital.
Deputies and RLPD searched for the source of a 911 call from a disabled phone that offered no location data, and had no luck finding the caller. The male caller made claims of being abducted and locked in a basement with 22 bodies. He changed his story multiple times, as well as the state he was being held in. He started to ask questions about what would happen if it was found out he was lying about his situation. He then claimed his brother just saved him.
March 15
A vehicle slid off the highway and was partially blocking the road in a blind corner spot. A deputy on scene updated with the information that the vehicle was pulled out by a third party and had no damage to it.
A woman who claimed a neighbor’s dog tried biting her dog spoke with a deputy to ask if there are any ordinances regarding aggressive animals. The deputy answered her questions and spoke to both dog owners about how to get along.
RLPD Sergeant and officer quickly pulled over a fleeing suspect truck after 911s were received about it causing a heavy damage hit and run. The eluding truck didn’t make it too far, however, seeing that its front passenger wheel fell off in the crash. There were a few vacationing young men inside the truck. They were given a ride to their rental after the driver was given a DUI and several other citations. Their truck with two snowmobiles up on the sled deck was towed to another county.
March 16
Bridger and Fromberg fire responded to put out a smaller, but moving, fire that was not a controlled burn.
An underaged skier was issued a no trespass order for the rest of the ski season after he was found to be blocking other vehicles in with the way he parked. He came down from skiing to address the issue with a deputy and the mountain’s manager. Alcohol was among items seen in plain view in the vehicle and the skier was made to dump it all out.
An out-of-state driver caused a hit a run, and was involved in a separate hit and run from the day previous. While RLPD was busy speaking to the driver, the passengers were free to leave. One of the passengers walked not too far and openly urinated in front of a business where several witnesses saw. One of the witnesses walked over to the sergeant and explained what just happened. The passenger was immediately detained and taken to the PD. He then offered the sergeant a thousand dollars to skip writing him a public indecency citation. He was officially arrested and taken to YCDF on a charge of felony bribery.
3/17/24
The Red Lodge Mountain manager reported a scam occurring on craigslist that is offering reduced price lift tickets. A deputy put the scam under investigation.
RLPD pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver was processed and found to not be under the influence. However, there was contraband in plain sight in the console, so the driver consented to have his vehicle searched. A backpack with more contraband and large sums of cash were found, seized, and taken into evidence in wait of a search warrant. The driver and passenger were both issued citations for possession of intoxicating substances while under 21 years old, and the driver was issued the other traffic citations. The passenger took over the driving and they were both released.
