Black Bear Euthanized After Attack at Private Campground South of Red Lodge

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) has captured and euthanized a black bear at a private campground south of Red Lodge where a child was attacked while in a tent. In a social media post Monday, FWP stated it believes the euthanized bear was the bear involved in the incident “but is continuing with capture efforts at the site until tomorrow afternoon for due diligence.”

The incident occurred around 10:00 Sunday night. The child was transported to a Billings Hospital for care, and their condition is unknown at this time.
