Beartooth Elks Lodge #534 will host two candidate forums to allow citizens to hear from and meet their candidates for Montana State Representative, Carbon County Commissioner and Red Lodge City Council. The Lodge is located at 114 North Broadway Avenue in Red Lodge.
The first forum will feature Red Lodge City Council candidates and will take place this Thursday, October 10, at 6:00 p.m. Candidates for the two contested races in the Red Lodge City Council race will answer questions in a forum to be followed by a reception, allowing the public to meet their candidates and ask their own questions. Both candidates for Ward 3, Shinta Daniels and Max Maynard, have confirmed they will attend. Two candidates for Ward 2, Terri Durbin and Anne Rood, have confirmed they will attend; however, the third candidate, Dan Horman, has not. Ward 1 is uncontested.
The second candidate forum will take place next Thursday, October 17, at 6:00 p.m. and will feature four candidates. Both candidates running for state representative for District 55 (Carbon County), Brad Barker and Kim Gillan, plan to attend the second forum along with both candidates for the Red Lodge District of the Carbon County Commission, Bill Bullock and Norma Shultz. All Carbon County voters have the opportunity to vote for commissioner of each of the three districts (Bridger, Joliet and Red Lodge) for their six year term. While the commissioner for each district has responsibilities specific to their district (road maintenance, for example), each commissioner represents the entire county when conducting County business.
Come see the candidates and hear what they have to say before you vote. Absentee ballots will be mailed this Friday and election day is Tuesday, November 5.
