Although the 100° temperatures will hold off until Saturday, it will still be darned hot in Carbon County in the coming days. Tips to stay safe in the heat can be found HERE. Tips for what to do for heat related illnesses can be found HERE.
Remember that hydrating your body before exertion is easier and better for your body than trying to rehydrate. Citrus juices or liquids with sugar and salt (such as Gatorade) are better for hydrating your body than plain water in high heat. However, just adding a pinch of salt to your water can provide much needed electrolytes. Sodium is one of the electrolytes that we’re quickest to lose through sweat. Luckily, ingesting salt is a quick and easy way to replace what we lose. Salt also contains the electrolytes magnesium, calcium and potassium. Sea salt, Celtic salt and Himalyan salt are less processed than table salts.
